Created in 2012, the Remember Me Thursday Movement seeks to find forever homes for the 2.7 million pets orphaned to shelters that lose their lives yearly. This global awareness campaign occurs in 180 countries through over 700 organizations and urges people to adopt rather than shop, that is, "opt to adopt" pets. Annually the week of the United Nations International Day of Charity, September 5.
